Totem Soup News - A Dose Of Comon Sense

It has come to my attention that the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case is still a prevalent thing topping Google searches with 1,330,000,000 results and growing. In my honest opinion there are 2 points that need to be clear. One, BOTH parties were in the wrong. Two, George Zimmerman should be in jail. A fellow blogger and youtuber could not have put it better so I will refer you to him below and recommend you subscribe to his channel because he's bloody brilliant. I give you "A Dose of Buckley":

He makes some very valid points and I agree with them all. First off he disregarded dispatches orders to stand down. Secondly, he was armed. There is no logical reason why neighborhood watch should be armed, they are normal citizens. The fact that he was treating his job as batman would and not as a neighborhood watch is a bit unsettling to say the least. He was acting as a vigilante, period. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that vigilantism happens when someone thinks the justice system is flawed then feel it necessary to enact their own justice. This story made national news for no real apparent reason and took over the entire world, this also is in my list of "Shit that should not be".

The next blogger and youtuber I refer you to is Philip DeFranco. Skip to about 1:50 into this video:

Philip Defranco really puts up a good point that the prosecution did, well for lack of better words, a really shitty job. In retrospect covering this story was painful but necessary. I really do not feel this story should have gotten the attention it did, and definitely should not have gotten presidential mention...seriously, don't you have bigger more important things on your plate than this?

And now for the verdict, Zimmerman is innocent...DAFUQ YOU JUST SAY!?! Yes that's correct, if you have been living in a hole this might be big news for you. This verdict caused quite the uproar to everyone who cared about the case, which seems to be the whole of America. Everything from rioting to angry blogging, to hate crimes involving young black men kicking the holy dog shit out of a Hispanic man "for Treyvon". Now that Zimmerman also has his "Not Guilty" verdict he has unleashed a lawsuit factory on the family of Trayvon Martin and various other news outlets, furthering my lack of faith in humanity.

Earlier in this blog I did mention it was both their faults. I hold to this. Lets investigate Trayvon Martin a little. Why did he run? Running from any authority figure (even if it is just the dopey middle aged man on neighborhood watch) still shows a bit of guilt. If Trayvon just respected the man flagging him down and waited 5 minutes for police to show up and sort everything out, this entire year long clusterfuck would never have happened. Then, there were the drugs. The THC I will not touch because if all he was looking for was a snack...thats the THC talking, not a drug in my eyes. Its this exert from an article I came across:
"...Trayvon was admittedly, according to his Facebook conversations, a user of DXM and Purple Drank/Lean since at least June 2011. He was also an admitted smoker of Marijuana which was found in both his urine and blood tests. His liver indicates the beginning stages of an unusual degrading known as “mild fatty metamorphasis”, and his brain tissue appeared compromised, both conditions symptomatic of DXM use."
So yes, mind altering drugs were in play here. However, as stated before, Zimmerman should not have followed. If the police were waited on, then both parties would be alive and Trayvon would likely be in jail.

That's my take on it. As usual, if you don't like effects me in no way.
